"I really feel I am on the start of something, the begining of the journey. It is really good to have someone to talk to about it."
Richard - Counselling client
Living life can be difficult; unfortunately what can be worse is having no one to listen to you. Talking gives us chance to explore our thoughts and feelings and the effect they have on us.
Having the opportunity talk about what's going on in our head, noticing the patterns in the way we think and deal with different situations can be prove extremely helpful.
My aim is to create a safe "neutral territory" to help you both work through those tough issues that prevent you getting on with your lives and moving on.
I can help by helping you both to recognize and resolve conflicts within your relationship and increase empathy. By exploring the difficulties you are both facing by looking at them from a new or different perspective.
Telephone Counselling offers a greater degree of anonymity. It is just like face-to-face counselling plus there are some advantages to working together in this way.
Some find it easier to open up about their issues not being face-to-face with a therapist. It can be more comfortable, convenient and we can organise a time that suits you.
We are all unique individuals and as such we are the greatest experts on ourselves, as only we know how we feel about any specific subject or in any given situation.
No one can tell us how we are feeling or what we are thinking even though people will often try to guess our thoughts and feelings. When this does happen it is usually the other person trying to project their own thoughts and feelings onto us.
Counselling aims to help the individual find their own way forward and allow us to be who they really are. Often we can get caught up in what is expected of us or how society dictates we should be rather than ensuring our own personal needs are met.
I am a professional, qualified counsellor and a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) www.bacp.co.uk but first and foremost I am a human being with a sense of humour and a variety of life experiences.
"Chris is a most reliable and committed counsellor. He has a good sense of humour which I always feel helps the supervisory relationship!"
